Demanding

Dear Olive,

I'm struggling a little with something at the moment. From day dot, I've demand fed you. I taught you some baby sign language and from ten months old you've signed to me when you want milk. I've always obliged - day or night. But now, well, I'm starting to think about how to get you off the night feeds. It's the tantalising thought that you may sleep better if you knew you weren't going to get any milk. The problem is, this kind of goes against my basic parenting philosophy that I believe you intuitively know what you need. I think I'll take it slow and see how we go.

More photos from your birthday party - this time taken by a professional, our friend Prue. (No one seems to have gotten any photos of the all important candle blowing.)

When you figure out how to stop the night feeds, please please please tell me. I'm totally cool with how our extended breastfeeding thing-o is going, but like you, I'd love a full night of sleep. Oh yes. Wouldn't that be divine? Mmmhmmmm. Or am I just kidding myself? Delusion and sleep deprivation walk hand in hand over here. Raving. Sleep deprivation, y'know?

She's so cute. Look at her! I hope you work out your feeding issues. You're a pretty awesome lady for not having much sleep and coping so beautifully xx

Love the photo of the three of you. It's full of happiness! I hope you manage to get Olive off the night feeds. Sleep deprivation is the worst things about being a parent, eh!

Good luck Kelly! She won't miss those feeds once they're gone - she'll be too busy sleeping. And so will you.

DAMN Big T - when I saw I had a comment from you I was kinda hoping it might be some sage advice! Sleep deprivation is the pits isn't it everyone. At least it's a small comfort to know so many amazing women have made it through xx

What divine photos and what gorgeous little bottom teeth. I am not feeding anymore, and while I miss it on the whole, I don't miss those middle of the night wake up calls!
