Dear Olive,
It was a funny old weekend that was. We had no plans, and now that I'm no longer working full time, I didn't feel the urgency to cram our weekend with endless socialising and fun. But, in the end, it was probably a teeny bit boring. And I'm not sure if it was a rebellion against the slow weekend, or the terrible two's arriving a few months early - or a combination of both - but you've been incredibly full on. Tantrums at everything and nothing. You want it all done to your specific and exhaustive requirements, immediately. Just getting you dressed is turning into a loathsome task, often ending in a wrestle after negotiations fail. It's beyond exhausting. I'm trying to meet your frustration with gentle patience. But it's hard. And I think it's fair to say I've failed miserably on many occasions. I took myself off to an afternoon film yesterday, thinking the break would renew my strength for the upcoming week where Shane's going to be working some long hours and it'll just be me and you and your will home alone. And I think it worked. We had a marvellous morning singing at rhyme time at the library, followed by a delicious treat that's become something of a ritual for us, of a sausage roll* and sauce (the treat, of course, being mostly in the sauce - more sauce Mummy!), from the health food store. More mornings like this, please.

*spinach & cheese roll. But who would know what was in it with that much sauce.

I thought I'd dodged the terrible twos with my first two but they went through the tantrumy threes instead, either way it sucks. Hopefully Miss Olive was just having an off day or two. I adore the pic of her cleaning her hands, so delicate and cute.

I hear ya sista. You may be testing your mama Olive but you're oh so considerate cleaning your hands. And totally cute to boot. Now you've given me 'sausage roll' cravings! x
Ps I think E and O have pretty much the same wardrobes. We have that tshirt as well. And let's not mention the cardi...

Oh how I can relate to this post. Tantrums starting in our household too which right now I can more or less handle but I can see it's only going to get worse. Crazy how these little people are already testing us. I think you did well with going to the movies on your own. Dare I say I was quite happy to come into work this morning and leave my little fella with his daddy (though, they are both off to England this week so come Friday I'm sure I'll be begging them to come home and same me from my boring life alone!).

Oh, Olive, you want your independence so terribly. Hayes does, too. That is where the tantrums and incessant badgering come in. When Mommy says no, it can't reeeeaaallly mean no, right? Well, I feel like I have missed a lot--I crawled under a virtual rock for a while--like I do from time to time.... so glad that you are home now, Kellie...but sad that you are missing out on work. The grass is always a more vibrant shade anyway you look at it when you aren't standing right on top of it, isn't it? That is what I feel like most of the time. (Not to say that where you are standing isn't wonderful-by any means... we can't help but to question the unknowns or what ifs....)
Olive, you are a doll--and I always love your clothes!
xoxoPaula

I can not believe Olive is throwing a tantrum over getting dressed when she is getting in to the coolest outfits around! Lucky I am not a mini-person or else Olive's cardigan would be in serious danger of being pinched!

Love these photos, looks like a lovely morning. I'd say something about the tantrums passing and you'll get through it fine and just focus on the wonderful lovely good bits but I haven't been through it myself...(plus I remember a certain sister of mine still throwing tantrums at 18, so...)
