Home Holiday

Monday, January 16, 2012

Dear Olive,
Our holiday at home has turned out to be most excellent. Just the right mix of laziness*, activity**, and 3 o'clock beers***. And, guess what? It's continuing for a few - unexpected - more days because Shane isn't starting until Wednesday. Yessssssss. Nothing like the gift of a few surprise days to alleviate my anxiety about Shane going back to work, returning us to the ratio of one parent to one two year old, when two parents to one two year old is so preferable.
* laziness includes days with no plans, slow morning swims (& attempting to tan out of saltwater sandal tan), afternoon reading sessions developing into accidental naps, ignoring the washing up.
** activity includes visiting our friends at the duck pond, picnics at Nielsen Park, yum cha in chinatown, watching the holly throsby sydney festival kids show (highly recommended - you've wanted her album on repeat ever since), and dinners with friends (at home and out).
*** 3 o'clock beers includes beer, cider and champagne (just Mum and Dad, of course), at the pub and at home (of course).

So many gorgeous photos lady! I feel like I'm on holiday with you. I can taste the cider from here.
I'm glad you're having an extended home holiday. They are often the best kind. xx

ps. I love Olives swimsuit. Where is it from?

sounds devine! You've inspired me to schedule a spontaneous (ha!) trip to Chinatown very soon for some Yum Cha. Miss nearly 2 loves Yum Cha and her mum and dad are pretty damm partial to a pork bun and dumplings themselves!

Enjoy the rest of your break. Hear you loud and clear on the 2:1 ratio too

What beautiful photos, it looks like a great time was had by all. I always know i've had a good holiday if there are tan marks on my feet, so yours must have been fantastic.

Perfect Summer holiday snaps. It's snowing here. Very pretty but I miss the beach.

if only we lived that close to the beach, I would be there all the time. Although I be trying to get rid of my thong tan ;)

Hi Kellie,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I am super envious of your lifestyle, especially when its freezing here in Glasgow (oh and dull and wet etcetc). Look forward to reading your lovely blog. Jo x
