Dear Olive,
We had a pretty good weekend, despite the dreariness of the endless rain. We went out to dinner, I went to this unreal show at the opera house, and it was the extremely important occasion of Poppy's first birthday party. Papa came down and there were lots of family and friends, along with a super impressive spread. You're always delighted with cake. My Dad pointed out that even at your young age, you seem to be exhibiting the same helpful attitude to opening other people's presents that I had. (In what has become an infamous home video of one christmas morning, I raced into Hayes room and woke him up with his santa bag and proceeded to open all his presents, while he sat there and watched. After I batted his hand away a few times, there came some gentle "Kellie, let Hayes open his own presents" from behind the camera, which built up to stern requests. Next thing, camera goes off, and comes back on with Hayes opening his own presents and me, red eyed, having to settle with sitting next to him.) Presents or not, it's so special to have a big part in a little persons life.
Happy birthday Poppy, we love you. We're looking forward to opening up your presents for a long time xx

Kellie: how do you remember so many awesome stories from your childhood? And it's no wonder Olive has such a funny character with you as her mum!

Olive: Check out the amazing spread. Please tell me you you ate one of those star stick things and not just the apple??

Kevin: Hi!

Endless rain here too (and school holidays!) and it's driving us bonkers! xx

From Poppy: "Olive, thanks for being just like your Mum, because i love you dearly (even if I 'grunt' at you when you help me unwrap my presents)".

Thanks Kel for being such a warm, loving, gorgeous auntie to Poppy and dear friend to me. xx

I got my giggle on reading your Christmas story.
