hop hop hop

Dear Olive,
I read an analogy on motherhood the other day that really resonated with me: on the one hand, becoming a mother is like losing a leg, but on the other hand, it's like winning the lottery. It's much the same way I feel. Would I rather have two legs but live in a caravan? Probably not. Because in addition to losing a part of myself, I have been gifted a whole lot more.
Here I am on mothers day, hopping around on my one leg - feeding Clancy in the sling, and trying to explain to an extremely uncooperative you why it would be nice for us to have a photo on my first mothers day as a mum of two. Feeling every part of that missing leg, but with the knowledge that I've been given a whole world of incredible love and wonder in the two of you.
I hope all the Mums had a wonderful mothers day (on one leg or two).

That is the PERFECT analogy, right through to the hopping. Hope hopping with two is transitioning ok - I went slightly mad about six weeks into having two as I couldn't imagine how I would ever wash/cook dinner/drink a cup of hot coffee again, but now it's heaven (with a lot of hopping still).

Oh hello lovely one, it has been a while since i visited, Congratulations on the birth of the beautiful Clancy (what a great name). I loved the sling when Ilo was a baby (and up til he was about three), it was great for him (especially when i nailed those walking and breastfeeding moments) and for Poe because then I could be more available to him (oh and i loved having ilo nestled so close to me all the time). big love to you 4!

Oh dear. This made me giggle. I know exactly how you feel, as you cradle Clancy and hold Olive's hand. I felt the same after having Pops. As well as hopping I also felt I was doing that hokey pokey dance - one leg in, on leg out, in, out, in, out, shake it all about.... - but not in a fun way.

Leanne xx
