From Rabbit, With Love

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Dear Olive,

The first few weeks after you were born was a most exciting time. Not just because we made it to Coffs to attend Uncle Hayes and Aunty Sarah's wedding (it was absolute touch and go for a while and you were only 7 days old on the day). Not just because we had a constant stream of lovely friends and family to our flat bearing love, gifts, food and champagne over a seemingly endless pot of tea. And not just because we were simply in wondrous awe of you and couldn't bear to miss a single mesmerising expression you made as you slept. But also because everyday, for weeks, gifts would arrive by mail. We kept our local postie very very busy. On some days he would even make more than one trip. The generosity was overwhelming and it made us feel so special - we realised just how much love came into our lives with you. So it makes me happy that I can pass a little bit of this love along to my friends with new babes. As I type, this lovely little friend is making his (possibly slow - we are talking about Australia Post after all) way to Melbourne to give the divine little Winter Jean a warm cuddle. I can't wait to meet her in person, but until then, this little guy can give her some of our love.

such a sweet blog I'm so glad I was able to pop on over here and check it out! I actually live (or will soon) on the northern beaches but love that Bondi walk - we'll have to keep an eye out for each other! x

We LOVE it that you made it to our wedding. All 3 of you. I have no idea how you did it, but I'm really glad that you did. Our wedding was made all the more special to have our new baby niece Olive there. So thank you, thank you, thank you for being such a wonderful sister-in-law and such an incredible Mum.
