Weekend

Dear Olive,

We had a lovely weekend. Another Saturday, another family yum cha. It's become somewhat of a tradition for our family to catch up at yum cha and this weekend we were lucky enough to have your Pappa and Great Aunty Fran (my mums sister) join us. You impressed everyone with your chopstick drumming skills. In the afternoon, we found ourselves in a rare position - no activities locked in. So, I took myself off to the movies. I haven't seen a movie since I was pregnant and in my previous life as a non-Mum, I was a very frequent movie goer. Hello choc top, my old friend. It was bliss, pure bliss. (Although I got a huge shock when I was told it would be 18 bucks for my ticket .... what?!?) I watched a hilarious, charming NZ film called Boy. It's set in 1984 and the costumes are gold. It's really gorgeous storytelling and I loved it. Sunday, we had brunch with friends and then in the afternoon you and I spent time picking out supplies for the party at Spotlight (two weeks to go!). And then, suddenly, the weekend's over and it's Monday again. I was inspired to get industrious this morning and pulled out the sewing machine, dusted off what is potentially many years worth of dust, only to discover that I don't have the right thread colour and I can't locate my bobbins. And you're going to wake up soon. Of course. Why did I think this was going to be easy?

Nice fabrics Kel. What are you making Martha Stewart? I have embraced my crafty side since I got up north... Does not take much encouragement. xx
