Alphabutt Giveaway

Dear Olive,
Way, way back, on one of my obligatory uni summer holidays overseas trips, Mel and I entered a little bar in New York. We were sharing our dorm room with a sumo wrestler who was keeping us awake all night with his snores/bursts of lolly gorging. With his limited grasp of english leaving him unable to understand our yells of roll over, and us unable to communicate our request in Japanese, we decided our best bet for a good nights sleep was get as drunk as humanly possible. (Logical? Entirely. We were 23.) I took my gloves off, not knowing it was the last time I would see them (the downside to getting that drunk is, of course, the likelihood of losing personal items), and we sat down with our drinks and watched, as the only audience members bar one other table, the most bizarre set I've ever had the awkward pleasure of seeing live. It turns out it was Kimya Dawson's first band, The Moldy Peaches. And just what does this have to do with the banana chilli's in my fruit bowl? Well, nothing really. Except my great friend Chris at Popfrenzy, wants to give away copies of Kimya Dawson's kids album, Alphabutt, to four lovely dear olive readers! It's fast become one of your favourite record with it's fun, silly, catchy songs and I'm excited to share it with some other kids out there. Leave a comment on this post and I'll draw a winner next Sunday, May 6.
(Anyone offended by fart songs, need not apply!)

Hahaha, love this post!
The Moldy Peaches would have been funny to see live, a bit bizarre especially if you hadn't heard of them before!

Sure, count me in, why not?

Great story, love that you saw the Moldy Peaches before they were cool. Well publicly cool. I'm sure they were cool. Privately cool.
I'm babbling. Not cool.
Also not cool, liking farts. We love farts in our house so bring it on!

My friend got married to this song in 2007, just before it was on Juno (love that movie!)! Love that you saw Moldy Peaches in New York - awesome!

Would love the Alphabutt album - might have to buy it if I'm not one of your super lucky winners! :)

Oh yes please.I am Mum to 3 kids, 3, 9 and 15 years old who all find fart songs (fart anything actually)hysterical. It's practically the bond that brings them all together! No easy task with age gaps that big. This album would be just perfect.

Oh sounds brilliant - Annika (and I) are loving Olive's recommendation of the Holly Throsby See! Album so I'm sure Alphabutt would be a similar hit.

Sounds FAR too interesting to pass up. Couldn't be with my husband if farts offend me ;-)

My wee little Poppy, who's not yet 1, already has the (unfortunate) jingle of "Poppy popped off" attached to her name (on a surprisingly regular basis). Might as well embrace it, hey? She can pop-off along to the tracks.

PS -Love your travel tales Kel. That fat sumo dude was a blessing.
