Down Mexico Way

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Dear Olive,
Passports have arrived. Tickets are booked. Bags are (mentally) being packed. In less than four weeks time, it will be all tequila and guacamole. We're off to Mexico! We're having a week in Baja for a friends wedding, and then we've got a bit over two weeks to visit Oaxaca and Mexico City. If anyone has any travel tips/places to stay/things we must see/things we must eat/where to get the most amazing margaritas in town/Mexican blogs, I'd so love to hear them!

Yes... over here. I have a suggestion...

Meet us in New York!!! ;)

(I may have to send you over a spare bag and some travellers cheques so you can bring me home some crafty mexican goodness!)

I'm so excited to see the explosion of colour that is going to hit this online space in the coming weeks! xx

Yay...what an awesome trip you'll have. Sorry - no recommendations as I've never been there. I did go to the USA for 3 weeks last year {27weeks pregnant with a 3yr old in tow...on my own...left Hubby at home} and it was AMAZING!!!
As a family of 4, we head off to Japan in 8 weeks. Eek!
Mexico will be full of wonder!

So exciting! I've only been to mexico once, and I was a little girl so I don't remember much. My dad goes every year and he loves it - I can ask if he has any tips. ANd I agree with Claire, so jealous that you get to stock up on mexican goodness! Like those peasant tops, baskets, oh and be sure to get a tortilla press! Those things are the best x

How fun for you! Mexico is amazing--especially seeing Mexico City, such a culture that I love. Enjoy your time.. I like that (bag are mentally packed) totally, that's how it goes.

I was in Mexico in 1991! Boy, I am old!

I loved the Museum of Anthropology, Frida Kahlo's house, Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City and the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon in Teotihuacan.

The best thing to eat is the corn on the cob covered in this salty creamy spicy topping from the street stalls. The magaritas are unreal and the only Spanish I remember is dos cervazas, por favor, because I said it a lot.

You will love it! Can't wait to see your photos!

We went to Tulum last year and had the best time. The only exploring we did was taking a taxi to the ruins which was an awesome experience. Other than that it was all about the beautiful beaches and eating the best guacamole and fish tacos i've ever tasted. We're planning to go back so i'll lookout for any tips that you may have.

Safe and happy travels to you, Shane and Olive!

Tash xx
