Hello Hello Hola

Dear Olive,
The holiday is over, and we are home. The happiest about this turn of events, was you. You got pretty homesick (and more and more tired) as our trip went on*, and as soon as we walked in, you ran into your room, closed the door, and joyfully reunited yourself with every single toy. The trip was pretty big for little you. You travelled so well, but we've heard over and over and over just how happy you are to be back. Arriving home was not necessarily a bad thing for Shane and I, either. A home made salad has never tasted so good! And a big shout out for decent shower pressure too. As opposed to say, a limp trickle. For the first few days, we all - embarrassingly - continued to say gracias as an involuntary reflex to being served anything, anywhere. I'm glad that stopped because I was beginning to feel like a real wanker. But since being back, I find myself in the throngs of a somewhat-forced blogging break. Forced because, in a huge, enormous, devastating blow, my camera now resides in the lap of the Mexican Camera Gods. And un-forced, due to a severe lack of inspiration. I have, however, managed to wrangle a few trip photos from fellow traveller, great amigo, amazing photographer, and ever so handsome groom from the wedding Paul, so (all going to plan) I will be back soon with a recap of the rest of our trip in Oaxaca and Mexico City. Will just have to jog my memory with my diary first. Because it already feels so long ago.
(Photos below courtesy of Paul Mason. Thank you, Paul!)

*anytime you fell over you would scream that you were never coming to Mexico EVER AGAIN. That, or you'd yell for Pepper.

After traveling around France for a month this year with a 10 month old, I can honestly say O know how you feel. Not the losing your camera bit, but the happy to be home and eating home cooked foods.

Welcome home Olive!

How did you lose your camera?? NOOOO!! Well at least you were able to steal some images from your friend.
I always find that I so enjoy my holidays and then it hits a point when you are sooo ready to come home and you feel like you need a holiday after your holiday :)

Glad you're all home safe and sound and happy. We were away too (in St. Martin) and at one time I towards the end of our trip I thought I had lost my camera. After a frantic search of our room I found it, but for a while it was truly thinking that I had left it at a restaurant and I was devastated. I so feel for you at the loss of yours. :(

Gez Paul lovely photos!
Oh poor Olive, I am sure Pepper heard your cries from Mexico and wished she could help (or come on holidays with you too)

Kellie! HOLA! So glad that you're home safe and that Olive's reunion with the toy-box went well! Lalie was exactly the same...running around the house like a nutter picking everything up and yelling out the name of it. She couldn't decide what to play with first!

Such crappy news about your camera - did you back up any of your photos before it was lost?? Losing camera/photos while travelling is the worst (I speak from experience)!

These photos are amazing and leave me wanting more. I hope there's more!!??

Big love xxx

it's always good to be home, no matter how great the trip. kids really do feel it don't they. isi was miserable on his first trip to italy! and the homemade salad, i hear you. the best thing about not being in mexico is that you never have to eat melted cheese again! x

Travelling with kids is hard work, well done for surviving it. It looks like you had a beautiful time.

I can't wait to see more pictures. Serious bummer about loosing the camera though. Rubbish.

Olive I love you. That last sentence is all kinds of wonderful.

Glad to hear your back safe and sound with wonderful tales to tell. xx

Oh no! That sucks you lost your camera! But these are beautiful pictures. There really is no place like home, with all its creature comforts and familiarity. I love the little * at the bottom - Olive, you crack me up! :)

Gorgeous photos! I know exactly what you mean about being back home as I felt that when we went away to Malaysia. It's so exhausting travelling with a toddler. And I'm sorry that you lost your camera...we lost ours too but managed to get it back from our hire car...phew! But we ended up losing my daughter's favourite toy though...;-(
