Slice of Heaven

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Dear Olive,
I tasted this slice recently at a friends, and it was so delicious I had to try to recreate it at home. This is my second attempt at making it and it's bloody amazing (if I do say so myself) - chewy and sticky and chocolate-y. I have no idea of quantities, I just blindly threw in (liquified) coconut oil, chia seeds, raw cacao powder, vanilla essence and rice syrup, and hoped for the best. I mixed it all together, put it in a baking paper lined tin in the freezer, and tried my hardest not to eat it all in one go! (Next time I'm going to make it with flaked coconut in place of the chia seeds and call it golden rough.)

I think this is going on next weekends baking list (extra bonus that there's no actual baking).

awesome. And I love your 'just wack it in' approach... my kind of cooking!

A friend made me something almost identical just last week! She added prunes (makes it a bit fruity) and coconut. So good.

!Yum! I do a similar one and put in ground raw almonds(pref soaked o.night) and raw (or medjool) dates instead of rice syrup. The I roll it into balls. Mister big nearly 3YO sometimes has them instead of a regular meal. A few special ingredients sneak in there too sometimes, like spirulina, goji berries and maca. Healthy chocolate ball bliss!
