Dear Olive,
When I was young, I had a dress just like this*. I had this book. And I decided it would be far better to be her, than me. So I changed my name, and for a few months, everyone - family, friends, teachers, had to call me Heidi. I wouldn't respond unless they did. I got over it, though, and went back to being me again. I wonder who you'll want to be?
* mine was brown. But it was the 70's so this was not only acceptable, it was highly fashionable.
PS Elephant memory? Yes, I briefly mentioned this story a long time ago here.

Aww, so sweet and such a nice nostalgic moment. I was recently given a gorgeous vintage Heidi copy that is abridged and has lots of pictures, perfect as a step between the LGB and the full version for my little 4 1/2 year old to experience Heidi during our night time reads. I wonder if she will think of it as fondly as we do?

I loved Heidi when I was little: book, movie, the lot. But calling yourself Heidi, that's super cute!

Oh, I wanted to be Heidi! Just to spend the winter in a cottage in the mountains surrounded by snow. I think deep inside I still want that.

That dress is lovely. I am living in the land of Heidi, la vie est belle! Actually I'm scoffing a huge bowl of yogourt as I type too!

Dear Olive, your little mullet is too rad for words. So very cute.

Dear Kellie (aka Heidi) One of my friends insisted on being called Mrs.Brady when she was little. I'm not sure if that was in relation to the Bunch though...

Is she reading a Little Golden Book? That brings back so many memories. I'd love to start a little collection for my little one.

The cross stitch on that dress is amazing! Score!
And so funny, I just followed the link back to where you mentioned this story before and read that whole post again. I am now literally laughing out loud at the vision of your Dad trying to suck up a mossie with a vacuum cleaner!!!
Hilarious xx
